Does the Ball of Your Foot Hurt?
If you’re suffering from Metatarsalgia (Ball of Foot Pain) and want to gain pain relief, look for shoes with good metatarsal support. Before going on it might be good to first understand a little more about metatarsal pain. Typically, if you have pain in the ball of your foot you’re suffering from Metatarsalgia. Usually the pain is caused from inflammation. To relieve the pain you need to address the cause of the inflammation. (For an in-depth explanation of Metatarsalgia, Click Here.)
The first thought most people have is to get insoles with extra soft padding. Unfortunately this approach does not address the structural issues that cause the pain. The more correct approach is to make sure your insole (or footbed) has good metatarsal support. This may seem, or feel, like the wrong approach.
A footbed with good metatarsal support will at first feel like there is a golf ball under the ball of your foot. The actual size of the arch support is not huge (see images of Birkenstock footbed) but the impact is great. It will take a while for your feet to adapt and for the arches to regain its proper positioning. As the arches get back to where they need to be, the inflammation and the pain will subside.
Relieving metatarsal pain is not a part-time task. You have to make sure your metatarsal arch is supported all of the time. Going barefoot or wearing footwear without support will extend your recovery period.

Happy Feet Plus Retail Store Sale – July 22-Aug 5
If you live in the Tampa Bay, Florida area now would be a great time to visit one of the nine Happy Feet Plus retail locations. Not only are we continuing the $10 off sale on the Kenkoh Massage Sandals, but we’re taking $20 off three popular Birkenstock sandals.
The Birkenstock Florida sandals for women in Khaki Birkibuc and Blue Birko-Flor are now only $59.99. Also the Birkenstock Arizona Mink Suede sandal in men’s and women’s sizes is now $99.99. All three feature the famous Birkenstock cork and latex classic footbed.
Both the Kenkoh sandals and all of the Birkenstock family of footwear are ideal for preventing or addressing a variety of foot issues. One of the most frequent foot ailments is Plantar Fasciitis. Recovering from Plantar Fasciitis is long process which begins with insuring that the medial arch is properly supported at all times.
Plantar Fasciitis pain is often most acute the first thing in the morning. Slipping on a pair of Kenkoh sandals as you get out of bed will support the arches of the feet. At the same time the massaging nubs will stimulate nerve endings and accelerate the flow of blood throughout the feet. Both will reduce the discomfort and allow the healing process to continue.
You cannot ignore your feet the rest of the day either. It’s equally important to provide good support all day long. Wearing footwear with good arch support like that found in Birkenstock footwear and other brands found at Happy Feet Plus will help you recover from the pain of Plantar Fasciitis.
Footwear for Healthier Feet
Providing “Footwear for Healthier Feet” is a core value here at Happy Feet Plus. Ever since our founding in 1985 we have focused on the sale of footwear that are good for your feet, as well as for your whole body.
Over the years we have sought out brands that strengthen, support and even revitalize your feet. A couple of brands have been mainstays within our stores over the years. Birkenstock and Finn Comfort are both German-made products that feature cork-latex footbeds for exceptional support and comfort.
Perhaps the epitome of our belief in healthy footwear is the Kenkoh Massage Sandal. This sandal, developed in Japan, was the product that launched Happy Feet Plus. The insole of the Kenkoh is made up of hundreds of natural rubber nodules that support and stimulate the soles of your feet. The nodules stimulate the nerve endings and have been clinically proven to increase blood flow and create a calming, restful feeling.
The nodules also are known to stimulate the various reflexive zones on the sole of the feet. The nerve endings of these reflexive zones connect to and affect various glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexive zones increases the body’s energy flow and rebalances the body.
Wearing the Kenkoh sandals allows you to massage your feet when you walk, stand or sit with even light pressure on the sole.
Who better to explain the benefits of the Kenkoh sandal than the company founder, Jacob Wurtz.
Why I Like Clogs
Yes, I’m a guy and I like clogs.
Prior to working at Happy Feet Plus I would not even thought about wearing a pair of clogs. No, I came from the corporate world complete with wingtips and button-down collars. Little did I realize how much my feet were crying out for help.
Being jammed into “fashionable” shoes were making all the little piggies packed much too tightly together. They wanted, and needed, room to stretch out and breathe. My first clogs were Tatami Oklahomas. (Now they have been moved to the Footprints brand as Antwerpens.) OK, so they looked a bit like duck feet with the wide toe box, but they were just what my feet needed.
With room to spread out and relax my feet good happier and the aches and pains went away. So I tried another style of clog – the Alton from Footprints. This clog has a great boot look to it. I wear them with jeans all of the time. The back is just high enough to help keep it in place but low enough to still have the clog open feel to it.
If you’re have feet pain and your closet is full of narrow-toed tie shoes you might want to try a nice pair of clogs. You never know you might just start a fashion trend in your office.
One clog that I personally have not owned, but we sure sell a lot of, is the Birkenstock Boston. This would be a great way for you to get into a top-quality clog at a great price. All leather and suede Birkenstock Boston Clogs are $30 off regular price.
Classic Skippers
When I say “Classic Skipper” is this the first image that comes to your mind? Perhaps, but I’m thinking more along the lines of the Birki’s Classic Skipper Clog.
The Birki’s Classic Skipper does remind me of a shoe that either The Skipper or Gilligan might wear on that tropical isle. It’s a casual and comfortable clog that would look good with Gilligan’s jeans or The Skipper’s khakis. And the others? Yes, they too would look dashing in their very own Classic Skipper Clogs.
The Classic Skipper Clog comes in either nubuck leather or a heavy canvas. Both feature Birki’s Soft Base Sole that provides an extra layer of cushioned comfort between the black EVA sole and the cork footbed. Does it feel like you’re walking on a sandy beach? Maybe not, but it sure is soft and easy on your feet.
There are many colors to choose from, but right now you can get an extra special deal on the Rustic Gray Nubuck Classic Skipper or on the Mocha Canvas Classic Skipper.
The gray nubuck Classic Skipper can be yours for only $99.99, a savings of $40. The mocha canvas Classic Skipper is also a great buy at only $89.99, an awesome $30 savings. This is a limited time offer, so get yours today.

Birkenstock Boston Suede Clogs Keep Your Feet Warm
Birkenstock Boston Clogs -
Keep your feet warm when the weather gets frightful.
Winter is the perfect time to slip into your favorite pair of Boston Suede Clogs and enjoy the warmth and suppleness of the natural suede leather. All Boston clogs feature the famous Birkenstock core and latex footbed.
The suede Boston clogs have three footbed options available to you. Color selections are available for the Classic Footbed, the Soft Footbed or the High Arch versions.
The Classic Footbed is also known as the “hard” footbed. This is the original cork and latex footbed that made Birkenstock famous. The Classic Footbed is designed for individuals with a moderate arch.
The Soft Footbed starts life as a Classic Footbed. Birkenstock then adds an extra layer of foam sandwiched between the cork and the suede footbed liner. The extra foam provides a more cushioned ride for folks who find the Classic Footbed to be too severe. The Soft Footbed version is primarily designed for users with flat feet or low arches.
The High Arch version (only available in Taupe) is designed for individuals with significantly high arches. It is recommended that if you’ve never worn the Birkenstock High Arch Footbeds that you visit a local Birkenstock retailer and try one on.
Right now happy Feet Plus is featuring the Birkenstock Boston Suede Clogs at $30 off original retail. It’s a great price on a great shoe. Click Here to visit the Happy Feet Plus website and choose your favorite Boston Suede Clog before this deal ends.
Birkenstock Removable Footbeds, Insoles and Arch Supports
Birkenstock brands epitomize basic footwear at its very best. German-based shoe distributor Birkenstock Orthopädie GmbH & Co. KG has been serving the public’s podiatric needs since 1774. For over two centuries, all high-quality product offerings have echoed founder Johann Adam Birkenstock’s personal philosophy: “No smoke; no mirrors; no gizmos – just great footwear”.
Johann’s grandson Konrad expounded upon his ancestor’s brilliance by devising a revolutionary footwear concept in 1897. Konrad’s overriding objective was designing shoes with shapes that conform to the human foot’s natural curvature. His ambitious obsession spawned the then-novel theory that shoes made for close mimicry of the human foot’s internal anatomy offer the most comfort. In 1902, Konrad’s hypothesis concretized into the world’s first mass-produced contoured insole.
The rest is history. Konrad’s introduction of footwear with integrated arch supports that feature broad aesthetic appeal and functionality has made the Birkenstock brand famous for generations.
Answering a perennial footwear paradox
Finding a material with sufficient rigidity that provides adequate support while retaining sufficient flexibility for extended wearing comfort has posed a perpetual challenge for commercial shoemakers.
The Birkenstock blue footbed is a contemporary solution to this ancient anatomical riddle. These innovative inserts offer outstanding support while facilitating full foot mobility and optimal interaction of all internal podiatric structures.
Taking foot comfort to new levels
Compatibility with a vast array of non-brand footwear is the most valuable Birkenstock footbed aspect. These removable insoles feature only the best quality of construction and material components. Primary cork-based construction provides a light weight platform of support and shock absorbency without creating foot fatigue.
Amazing arch and heel support
Each specially designed Birkenstock Blue footbed also provides pronounced support for all three major foot arches. Medial and lateral arches running lengthwise along the foot surfaces function in perfect podiatric harmony with crosswise metatarsal arch movements.
Specially contoured Birkenstock Blue arch supports also include deep heel cutouts that help relieve plantar discomfort and heel pain. A built-in lining and outer coverage of 100 percent genuine silk provides moisture resistance and is easily removable for periodic hand washing.
A dynamic duo of comfort and style
In addition to various widths from narrow to wide that fit any shoe size, Birkenstock Blue arch supports come in two distinctive designs to suit individual needs and lifestyles.
- Casual
Birkenstock’s Blue casual foot beds are intended for insertion into flat shoes that feature identical heel and toe levels. Typical footwear formats include regular sneakers, basketball and cross-training sports shoes as well as many casual and dress shoe styles.
- Heeled
Birkenstock’s heeled arch supports feature elevated forefoot support. This format is most suitable for work, hiking, dress, or casual boots in addition to many dress and casual low-heel shoe styles. Birkenstock Blue foot bed supports accommodate heels heights of up to 15 centimeters. Such versatility ensures their compatibility with a wide variety of heeled shoe styles.
A terrific trifurcation of tremendous support
All Birkenstock Blue arch supports offer outstanding support and optimal spinal alignment by way of supporting all three of the major foot arches. This comprehensive reinforcement regime is not so obtrusive as to obstruct free foot movement while walking or running, however.
People with medial arch heights falling within low-to-medium ranges readily appreciate the additional support and comfort of these non-plastic platforms.
And when it comes to the foot beds in the shoes and sandals, Cork’s natural contouring properties and rapid molding amenability keep “break in” time associated with other alternatives to a minimum. Dual layered Jute fibers add moisture resistance and strength for easy resoling.
Soft suede veneers are valuable foot comforters that continuously soothe and protect the body’s anatomical supportive structures.
